Everything a Drone Can Do
Drone Spectacular aerial shots
Camera flights over steppes, deserts, jungles or glaciers have been known from nature films for years. drones were and are often used for this. Thanks to the numerous drones, there is now an inexpensive alternative to this. Drone flights over untouched landscapes offer spectacular aerial photographs. Thanks to the particularly small and quiet devices, it is also possible to film animals in their natural environment without immediately frightening them. Drones are also increasingly being used in numerous film productions, for example to present battle scenes or car chases from a different perspective. The camera drone has long since become a serious competitor for classic crane trips and helicopter flights.
Transporting small items using Drones
The world is getting faster and faster. This development has also made an impact on the Internet. Goods that were ordered today should ideally be delivered tomorrow. Individual mail order companies now even offer same-day delivery. In the future, logistics drones could take over the delivery of goods ordered online. The unmanned aerial vehicles are already able to transport loads of up to 2.5 kilograms within a radius of around 16 kilometers. Large online department stores and logisticians are already experimenting with parcel drones. In Germany, however, multicopters are not permitted for the transport of goods in public spaces. On the other hand, companies do not need to obtain flight permits within warehouses. Here the copters can already be used to automate the storage systems. With a corresponding development in the area of range and payload, parcel drones could represent a real alternative to traditional delivery services in the future. They can be used to bring goods to remote and hard-to-reach places in a flash.
Drones That Collect weather data
The small aircraft are ideal for collecting weather data. They can be controlled easily but precisely, can carry out important examinations and send the data obtained directly to the pilot. The copter can fly to exactly the height at which a measurement is to be made, regardless of whether it is three or three hundred meters. By using weather drones in the clouds, it has already been possible to explain phenomena that had previously puzzled scientists. For the future, it is hoped that the increased use of weather drones will result in an even more accurate weather forecast.
Optical examination of roofs
Another area in which unmanned aerial vehicles are already being used very successfully today is the optical inspection of roofs. Camera drones quickly and easily deliver the images that would otherwise require a roofer to climb onto the house. Damage can be inspected from the ground and all necessary precautions can be taken before the first employee can even set foot on the roof. This saves the craft businesses time and money. Equipped with a thermal imaging camera, the copter can provide important information on possible weak points in the insulation. During a sightseeing flight over the roof in question, any leaks are immediately apparent.
Recordings of hard-to-reach areas
Camera drones can save lives in the event of an accident or emergency. With the help of these aircraft, rescue workers can get an idea of the situation of possible injuries in areas that are difficult to access. People who have fallen into a crevice or buried in a tunnel, for example, can be tracked down. Of course, the multicopter can also be used to contact the injured and the supply of food and water is guaranteed.
Drones in land surveying
In addition, camera drones are also a very practical aid in land surveying. Remote locations that are difficult to access can be sensibly mapped using aerial photographs without one of the employees having to be personally on site.
Drones For use in crisis areas
Multicopters can also be used for civil purposes in crisis or war zones. With camera drones that fly over the area, you can determine where people are and send them aid supplies in a targeted manner. Instead of dropping large-scale aid deliveries with food, water and blankets over the entire area, the goods can be brought directly to where they are needed with a multicopter.
Drone Racing Games
Fans of live action games have completely new possibilities with camera drones. The copters can be part of the game world, serve as scanners or monitoring instruments of the totalitarian state. You can transport small items or orders between players. Or they are only used for documentation
Amateur pilots
The new camera drones are a real highlight for amateur pilots. If you don't want to sit in the cockpit yourself, you can use the little copters to explore unknown terrain and look at new flight routes from the air. The perspective with an unmanned aerial vehicle is of course always very different from that of a normal aircraft, as the drones have to be flown much lower. If you discover a beautiful piece of earth from the plane, you can visit it again later with a camera drone to capture the great view.
Model pilots feel like pilots
A completely new experience opens up for all model pilots with the camera drones. For the first time it is possible for them to experience the flight of their device from the point of view of the imaginary pilot. With active FPV drones in particular, the flights appear extremely realistic and give the pilot the feeling of actually sitting on board.
Important information about drones and quadrocopters
If you want to buy a drone, you usually have many questions. Who can fly the drone? Where can she fly? What does a drone cost? What about photos and videos? Can I simply make recordings with my device and possibly publish them? Many people are unclear what legal regulations there are in this area and they are unsure which aircraft is best suited for their purpose. Basically, it's not that complicated at all.
Do I need a license to fly a Drone?
A license is not required for private use of a quadrocopter. In principle, unmanned flying objects up to a maximum of 5 kilograms can be controlled by anyone; So there is no need for a driver's license or the like. Similar to small model airplanes or remote-controlled helicopters, drones can also be operated anywhere in private and public spaces. However, there are a few rules to be observed.
Private or commercial
The drone may only be intended for private use. Those who only use them for sport and leisure do not have to worry about permits. The situation is different with commercially used quadcopters. Approvals must actually be obtained for these. Incidentally, this always applies when recordings are made with the drone that are used to earn money. Anyone who uploads their drone flights to a video platform on the Internet and allows advertising before these videos must register commercial use of their copter.
Always in view
In Germany, it is also required by law that the pilot always keeps his aircraft in the field of vision. Video glasses or live broadcasts to a screen are not permitted. Further sightseeing flights are only possible with a clear view of the quadrocopter.
The two weight classes
In Germany, copters are divided into two weight classes. Small aircraft weighing up to 5 kilograms are generally permitted in the private sector and do not require any approval. With these, however, a maximum altitude of 30 meters must be maintained. For quadcopters between 5 and 25 kilograms, a maximum flight altitude of 50 meters applies. If you want to fly to greater altitudes, you must have a permit from flight safety.
insurance for drone
We strongly recommend, if not mandatory, to take out special insurance for the operation of a multicopter, which covers damage caused by the aircraft. The normal liability insurance does not cover such cases of damage. A special copter insurance costs from around 80 euros a year. Often these insurances are also valid abroad, so that there is no great risk even on vacation with a copter. Should an accident happen with the multicopter, it is definitely worth investing in insurance. In the case of damaged cars or even personal injury, the sum is often in the high four-digit range. In addition, fully comprehensive insurance can be taken out for the copter. This investment could also save a lot of money, especially with higher-priced models. Liability insurance is also required by law for commercially used multicopters. Since the devices are often particularly valuable for professional use, additional fully comprehensive insurance is absolutely recommended.
How much does a Drone cost?
Drones have now become absolutely suitable for the masses. More and more people are using the small aircraft to take spectacular pictures in their free time. Of course, this also has an effect on the technical development and the price. Cheap quadrocopters are already available for a few hundred euros, some providers even sell small fun drones for less than a hundred euros. The inexpensive entry-level models cannot of course be compared with high-quality professional versions, but they still guarantee a lot of fun. However, especially in the lower price segment, you should always pay attention to the technical equipment of the aircraft so that your device does not run out of breath after a very short time. For commercial use, a four-digit amount should be invested in the drone. Good professional models are available from around 1500 euros, but depending on the specific requirements, they can also cost over 100 - $1000 USD.
